Welcome to our update of Sydney’s finest new cafes. Some are dedicated to serving exceptional food and embracing the latest coffee trends, while others aim to be cosy neighbourhood hubs. Here’s where we’re currently heading for coffee, pastries, and all-day dining.
Superfreak
Superfreak’s striking interior design makes it a strong contender for Sydney’s best-looking cafe. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, it offers a fresh, homely menu complemented by a vinyl soundtrack that adds to the ambience.
Cafe 143
Situated in the former Three Blue Ducks space, this cosy spot is led by a US barista champion. The coffee is exceptional, and the unpretentious vibe perfectly suits Bronte. Drop by for excellent coffee and affordable deli rolls in the pastel-pink laneway.
Mogu Mogu
Specialising in onigiri, Mogu Mogu offers 12 ready-to-go flavours such as nanko-ume plum with shiso or marinated onsen egg. The luxe made-to-order options, like flame-grilled M9 wagyu, add a touch of drama to the small, inviting space
Domo 39
Inspired by Japanese convenience stores, this light-filled cafe serves bento box lunches, Japanese soft serve, and iced coffees spiked with yuzu. It’s brought to you by the teams behind Kurumac and Mapo Gelato.
Noon
The team from Chica Bonita has ventured into breakfast with community-focused Noon. Expect the usual breakfast favourites, plus creative morning dishes featuring unique suppliers, a rarity on the northern beaches.
Maido
At this serene cafe, Japanese homewares and speciality coffee come together beautifully, courtesy of Artificer and Provider Store.
Solstice
From the team behind The New Paradigm Coffee Roasters, this welcoming spot exclusively serves single-origin coffees. On Saturdays, a select food menu inspired by the owners’ Chilean and German heritage is complemented by treats from a popular Instagram bakery.
