Hearthe

Hearthe in Stanmore is the latest culinary venture by Christopher Thé, the mastermind behind Black Star Pastry and the renowned Strawberry Watermelon Cake. The name “Hearthe” is a fusion of “Heart,” “Art,” “Earth,” and Thé’s surname, reflecting the cafe’s ethos of heartfelt cooking and connection to the local community. Opened in 2019, Hearthe is housed in a light-filled former butcher shop opposite Stanmore train station, offering a community-focused space that celebrates indigenous Australian ingredients and landscapes.
At Hearthe, Thé showcases his culinary creativity with a menu that features sweet and savory delights inspired by Australia’s landscapes and infused with native ingredients. Signature cakes include the desert lime-flavored goats curd cheesecake and the paperbark dacquoise layered with paperbark dacquoise, macadamia, and smoked ganache. The cafe also offers classic viennoiseries, specialty cream options, and a variety of bakery classics alongside Thé’s innovative creations.

While Hearthe primarily caters to grab-and-go customers, it also offers a menu featuring native ingredient-heavy dishes such as bacon and egg rolls with bush tomato relish, granola with wattle and saltbush seeds, and rice congee with smoked barramundi dumplings. The cafe sources its coffee from inner west roaster Little Marionette and offers beer, wine, and cocktails for those looking for a leisurely dining experience. With its commitment to showcasing local and native Australian ingredients, Hearthe provides a unique and vibrant dining destination in the heart of Stanmore.
