A.P Town

A.P Town in Newtown is a bakery-cafe collaboration between Ester’s head chef Mat Lindsay, Reuben Hills’ Russell Beard, and Ping Jin Ng, known for Shwarmama. Originally planned for Darlinghurst, A.P found a home on the Paramount House rooftop in Surry Hills before landing in Newtown. A.P emphasizes sustainability and local sourcing, milling grains on-site for freshness and flavor.

The bakery offers a range of bread and pastries made from ultra-fresh flour, including sourdough baguettes, fermented potato buns, and pizza bianca. A.P’s commitment to sustainability extends to supporting farmers using regenerative practices and minimizing waste in the milling process. Popular items include buckwheat pain au chocolat, buttery croissants, and Vegemite and asiago scrolls.

Located in a red-brick building on Bucknell Street, A.P Town mainly focuses on takeaway due to limited seating. Despite this, the bakery’s offerings, including pastrami pies, cheese toasties, and chickpea soup, quickly sell out by lunchtime. Beverage options include Reuben Hills coffee, Strangelove sodas, and Teacraft teas, rounding out the experience at this popular Newtown establishment.
