Since 2019, Excelsior has been bringing coffee with attitude to the Excelsior district. The black-and-white walls are adorned with a lightning bolt neon sign, framed photos and a parked motorcycle near the ceiling. You can match the mood by opting for black sesame milk from local producer Gris, which makes a dairy alternative with seeds, cashews and monk fruit. Foamed, the milk’s nuttiness comes out but doesn’t block the espresso’s acidity. The shop is a hangout for bikers, with indoor seating and a bench out front.
