Outset Coffee - Inner Mission, San Francisco Bay Area

Outset Coffee is the newest cafe to join the buzzing commercial stretch of Valencia Street in the Mission District. The shop brings a fresh perspective to the coffee scene by pairing Asian fruit juices and flavors with coffee. Owner Heng Qiu was inspired by the complex scenes across Asian countries: The invigorating Outset Orange Americano ($5.50), a melange of orange juice, Jasmine tea and orange syrup, takes inspiration from Shanghai; the custardy durian latte ($6.95) pays homage to Thailand; and the elegant Yuja Americano ($5.50), espresso combined with pomelo juice, is a nod to Korea. (Note: Drinks come with a single shot. An extra one costs 50 cents.) The shop has the customizability of a boba shop but is fully a specialty coffee shop, exclusively using beans by Onyx Coffee roasters.
