Picco Leo in Sydney CBD, the casual offshoot of Restaurant Leo, opened in March 2020 by Karl Firla and Federico Zanellato, renowned chefs with experience in esteemed establishments like Noma and Ormeggio at the Spit. Operating primarily as a cafe and bakery during weekdays, Picco Leo offers Roman-style pizza slices, ciabatta sandwiches, and an array of baked goods, including star anise and cinnamon scrolls and black-gold truffle croissants. Customers have the option to grab-and-go or sit in and enjoy their lunch with a glass of wine, a cocktail, or a coffee.
The cocktail list at Picco Leo, designed in collaboration with Antonello Arzedi, features innovative creations crafted with care. Despite their unassuming presentation, the cocktails boast exceptional flavors, with each batch made in-house using a gas system. Highlights include the Ruby Spritz made with rhubarb juice, clarified Negronis infused with strawberry consommé and lemon leaves, and the Travel Nostalgia featuring a banana base with miso and coffee liqueur. Wine enthusiasts can also explore selections from Restaurant Leo’s curated wine list.

Emphasizing seasonal and locally sourced produce, Picco Leo’s menu reflects a commitment to quality and variety. While some snacks like oysters, house-made bread, and charred peppers remain constant, the rest of the menu rotates regularly based on available ingredients at local markets. This dedication to using fresh, seasonal produce ensures that each visit to Picco Leo offers a delightful culinary experience with new and exciting flavors to savor.
