The Trail

The Trail in Vaucluse is a casual local hangout during the week and a popular cafe destination on weekends. Owned by Nick Stubbs, who previously worked as a barista at Pyrmont’s Cafe Morso, The Trail boasts a clean and minimalistic design with bright Edison-bulb lights, polished-concrete floors, and blackbutt wood countertops. Head chef Lenny Walker, formerly of Orto Trading Co., curates a simple yet creative menu that changes every few weeks, featuring dishes like pulled pork and kimchi baked eggs and buckwheat-quinoa porridge with brandied rhubarb.
Opened in April 2015, The Trail brings a touch of the inner west cafe culture to the eastern suburbs, serving a unique blend of Little Marionette coffee and a creative brunch menu. Owner Nick Stubbs, inspired by the lack of quality cafes in the area, aimed to create a welcoming space with a minimal and sleek layout. The menu offers a mix of classic brunch options and inventive dishes like roasted pepper and Manchego omelette and hot smoked trout salad.

The Trail’s focus on brunch is evident in its creative and varied menu, featuring dishes like avocado toast, eggs benedict, and pancakes. The cafe is known for its accommodating staff who are willing to make adjustments to dishes, such as preparing an omelette with egg whites. With indoor and outdoor seating options, The Trail provides a relaxed and casual atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a weekend brunch or coffee catch-up. Additionally, the restaurant offers takeout options, catering to customers looking to enjoy their meals on the go.
